Learn our story

I’d Rather Be Dancing began backstage—between sweaty warm-ups, half-tied pointe-shoe ribbons, and those electric moments just before the curtain rises. We wanted gear that felt as alive as the bodies wearing it: pieces that could sprint from studio barre to subway turnstile, then glide into a late-night dive bar (because dancers deserve fries, too). When we couldn’t find that sweet spot of style-meets-function, we built it ourselves.

Today, our Brooklyn studio crafts dance-inspired designs that marry timeless aesthetics with everyday practicality—think luxe leather crossbodies, vintage-graphic tees, rosin-proof tumblers, and gallery-grade wall art that turns any apartment hallway into a mini promenade. Every item is made to order to reduce waste and honor the slow, intentional artistry dancers know by heart. We source durable fabrics, eco-minded inks, and hardware tough enough to survive tour buses and dressing-room floors.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro, a retired bunhead, the dad clapping loudest in Row D, or simply someone who believes life is better in motion, our mission is the same: help you carry your passion everywhere you go.

So lace up, roll down the windows, crank the playlist, and join a community that would—quite literally—rather be dancing. Because movement isn’t just an art form; it’s a way of seeing the world.
